Popular artiste, Chukwuka Ekweani better known as CKay has noted that it’s intriguing that his hit song “Love Nwantiti” has no award in Nigeria.
In a recent interview on The Afrobeats Podcast, the singer stated that he has his reservations for awards in general because he feels like there is so much involved.
He said he had seen innumerable instances where good music, both domestically and internationally, goes unnoticed.
He questioned what the real goals of the award organizers are and what makes a good song worthy of recognition. Ckay claimed it was interesting that despite being certified six times platinum, his hit song “Love Nwantiti” has not received a single award in Nigeria.
The musician added that a huge number of people had unlawfully downloaded and sampled his intellectual property all around the world, resulting in insane impacts and streams.
Since his songs are essentially acts of service to humanity, he claims that the love that his fans provide him is the ultimate reward.
If he gets nominated for an award, if he wins or not, he genuinely doesn’t care.
